What did you feel that first time you won a competition?
Who was your first Coach?
Each skater has many figure skating stories, some are like a fascinating novel, a nail-bitter filled with intrigue, passion and betrayal. Others are tear-jerking stories of overcoming adversity on a long and difficult journey to a skater's dream.
What's your story?
You don't need to be a writer - all you need is to share an experience, a feeling, an adventure - and few pictures of yourself or your favorite places.
Here is what you need to know about writing for Figure Skating International:
Your story should be about a figure skating journey, school, Coach, training camp... perhaps a favorite competition, the greatest skating event that you attended.
Those are the stories that we would be happy to publish: favorite event locations (with pictures) from a skater's perspective, travel anecdotes (how your costumes never got to the Nationals), stories about creative ways to find funds to support your skating career and everything else that you want to share about your skating journey.
This is what we will not be publishing: No affiliate or commercial links please, no religion, no stories that have been published elsewhere (we may include a link, but will not post again), no sales pitches for products or businesses and please... no disguised advertorials. share your figure skating stories
Write between 400-800 words. Less than 400 will be a bit too short for a page, and more that 800 word... well, people just get bored too fast today.
If you have a website, (other than personal Facebook page), please provide a link so we can link back to you when your article is published.
If you are including pictures (at least one, but please not more than 5), be sure to include a description. If you are sending us pictures that someone else took, we will need a written permission to use them.
We will also need your name and your e-mail so we can get in touch with you.
Our staff works fast, but skating World is quite demanding, we will try to publish your story (if it meets our guidelines) as soon as possible. IF however you don't see your story within couple of weeks, chances are it didn't make the cut, because it probably didn't meet the requirements. So read those instructions above carefully. :)
That's about it. Go on, start writing! We want to hear from you!
Share your Figure Skating Story with us!
If you live your life on skates, we bet you have stories to tell. Share them here!
